Ducklings and chicks

Remember my tiny little ducklings I posted about just ten days ago?

They’ve been growing! (My real camera is going into the repair shop tomorrow, yay!)

This is the same five in the same box as above that they only took up a tiny corner of. Now they barely all fit inside it! They love to swim. They’ve graduated from the little paint tray to our bath tub now though. In the video, you can see a couple of them playing with the running water on the right.

Our chicks are doing well too. The one hen ended up hatching out five babies. I believe they are two Easter Eggers, two Lavender Orpington/Ameraucana crosses (so basically Easter Eggers too, I think, but I know the exact breeds), and one Marans. They were out free-ranging with the other hens the other day and for the most part it went really well. None of the other hens bothered them at all, even when they ventured out and were wandering around amongst them.

The other hen only hatched out two, one Silkie and one Belgian D’Uccle. I was really hoping for more Silkies, as I’d like at least two hens to keep our Silkie rooster company and for them all to keep each other warm in the winter. I haven’t got any good pictures of them unfortunately, so I’ll post some later.
